Lakes and reservoirs form in very different ways and often are set in very different geological frameworks. The interactions that a body of water has with the subsurface is ultimately dependent on the geologic setting. In this presentation from Ginger Davis of the Indiana Geological and Water Survey, we will explore the ways water move in and out of water bodies focusing mainly on the groundwater component. By the end, you will understand various fluctuation mechanisms for lake/reservoir levels, your local geology, and its impact on your water body. You will understanding geologic impacts and discover tools to measure the water balance in your water body.
